Who’s Behind the Magic at Historic Crenshaw Hall?

Who’s Behind the Magic at Historic Crenshaw Hall?

There are many amazing concepts that have come into play in the design and development of Historic Crenshaw Hall. Some of them are still mere ideas in the minds of those who have pledged their time to making the “Historic Crenshaw Hall experience” one of a kind. Others, we are seeing manifest a little more each day. But who are these individuals who are working to make your event experience once in a lifetime? Well here they are!

Tim Chase - General Contractor
Tim, I would like to say, is the guardian of Historic Crenshaw Hall. Throughout the years of renovation he has been careful to oversee every detail that has to do with the redesign of the home. Everything from refurbishing the intricate Italianate woodwork on the side porch to the changing of the doorknobs, Tim has had a hand in. It is comforting to know that there is someone like him to make sure the job is done right.

Margot DeBarmore- Landscape Designer
Margot is a woman overflowing with creative talent. Her watercolor rendition of Historic Crenshaw Hall has become a staple marketing piece for us. More than that, when the project was still very rough, her artwork was able to inspire us to imagine the finished product. Her detailed landscaping plan along with her pledge to oversee each step reassures us that our property will be unlike any other.

John Bennett - Owner
John inherited Historic Crenshaw Hall in 1994, and after discussing with his family about how to use the home, decided to make it into what it is today. John’s attention to detail and dedication to preserving his family home has ingrained in each of us a sense of ownership. His enthusiasm for Historic Crenshaw Hall is contagious!

Joyce Bennett- Manager and Bridal Director
Joyce manages the staff at Historic Crenshaw Hall. From developing and instituting standard policies, to collaborating with the decorator, Joyce has a hand in everything happening at the office and the venue. Her example motivates each of us to never be satisfied with mediocre and to always strive for success.

Jessica Hardin - Events Director
Jessica’s strengths are in her personal commitment to providing outstanding client service and her generous sense of humor. From the smallest meeting to the large gala, each project gets the most detailed attention. She can usually be found smiling at her desk, making sure that each potential client has all that they need to ensure a memorable event.

Elizabeth Griffin – Event Planner
When Elizabeth joined our staff early this year, the energy in our office became electric. We all love her “can-do” attitude and willingness to dive into any project that needs her help.

All That Glitter At Crenshaw Hall

Beautiful, sparkling chandeliers are in no short supply at Historic Crenshaw Hall. When renovations began on the venue almost 4 years ago, the current owners decided that guests at Historic Crenshaw Hall deserved the best. Each room has a distinct look, coupled with a unique chandelier.

The Vestibule chandelier is the oldest in the house. Its hand etched globes compliment the etchings in the glass surrounding the double Italianate doors.

The Parlor chandelier gets the most compliments from guests. It is a magnificent accent to the coffered ceiling and the luxe rose and gold wallpaper.

The Eliza Room chandelier makes the peach-colored room sparkle. In the late afternoon, this room takes on a life of its own…making the room perfect for bridal portraits.

Even the women’s sitting room boasts beautiful crystal wall sconces that flatter the damask wallpaper and rose patterned drapes.

Historic Crenshaw Hall is a venue like no other. Each detail was carefully planned and reviewed with a well known local decorator. We are proud of everything that glitters in Historic Crenshaw Hall!

What's Blooming at Crenshaw Hall

We at Crenshaw Hall are excited to introduce brides to two feature wedding ceremony locations. The Mattie Jones Veranda and the Bride’s Porch are two unique options for a bride when having a ceremony on site.

The Bride’s Porch was originally constructed in the 1860s in Italianate style. Louisa Crenshaw was inspired by the gingerbread design, and craftsman intricately hand carved the porch to match her plan. During the spring, the azalea bushes are a vivid magenta that contrasts beautifully with the elaborate porch. This is truly a distinctive location on the property.

The Mattie Jones Veranda is a stunning feature of Crenshaw Hall. The grand columns span the full length of the front of the home. Added in 1910, this porch features classic hand-crafted Corinthian columns, topped with Corinthian capitals. The dogwood tree near the Veranda is a breathtaking spring addition to the property.

When a bride steps down from either of these grand structures, with many hopes ahead, she will truly experience the beauty and delight of Crenshaw Hall. Please call our bridal or event directors for a personal tour.

Spring At Crenshaw Hall

Spring is a favorite time of year for many. With cherry and pear trees blooming, tulips popping out everywhere and grass becoming green again; it seems like even a mundane trip to the supermarket is beautiful!
Bridal portraits during the spring are especially breath-taking. A bride who also happens to be a personal friend requested that I take some photos out on location at Crenshaw Hall. The venue grows more attractive every time I visit it. Daffodils were blooming like crazy, and the slight cloud cover made for perfect lighting.
We have already had several local photographers express interest in using Crenshaw Hall for bridal portraits, even senior pictures. With the multitude of locations in and outside of the historic home, our venue is a photographer’s paradise! Be sure to ask the bridal and event directors for information about using the home for any special event photos.

The venue has been updated with luxurious details that are sure to dazzle brides and executives alike. Many prospective clients have requested photographs of the house, and we are happy to oblige. Crenshaw Hall photographs beautifully inside and out.

The first photo was taken this past summer. The family has taken every step to preserve the home in it's original glory. Even unfinished, the property is so beautiful! There is a sense of peacefulness in such a intimate and serene setting that we'd love for you to experience.

To the right is a photo of a bride taken even before construction was completed in this room. The rose-pink walls are a beautiful contrast to the bride's stunning coloring.
